The HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre in Kilmarnock has been awarded the highest level of WiredScore Certification after completing a robust process covering multiple criteria. This prestigious certification positions HALO as the only Platinum occupied operational building in Scotland.

Designed by renowned architecture firm, Keppie, the HALO is setting the standard for low carbon sites across the UK. The development has brought significant benefits to the local economy and community which have gone above and beyond the expectations of a standard office building, which has been reflected in this special recognition.

WiredScore sets the global standard for technology in the built world through certification and education. A champion of cutting-edge technology in real estate, WiredScore defines and certifies digital connectivity and smart technology in homes and offices on a global scale, ensuring that buildings provide a best-in-class infrastructure that businesses and individuals require to thrive. Other global recipients of the WiredScore Platinum certification include The Shard in London and The Empire State Building in New York City.

WiredScore certified buildings are recognised globally for meeting the highest standards of technological innovation. The Platinum WiredScore certification recognises the HALO’s technological infrastructure and meets the demands of modern-day renters and businesses. Working in a WiredScore certified property ensures that measures have been taken to reduce the risk of connectivity loss and interruption confirming the HALO can support business connectivity needs with confidence.

The HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre is powered by its low-carbon tech, including its 107 rooftop solar panels that can generate 36kWh of electricity, its 75 carport solar panels producing 24kWh of electricity from its electric bike and car recharging stations, the 50kW battery power storage and the HALO’s very own bespoke electric bus all powered by 100% renewable energy.

HALO Director, Drew Macklin, who led the WiredScore project for the HALO, said;

“Working with the WiredScore team this past year has not only provided us with the WiredScore Platinum Certification but set in stone our commitment to creating the most sustainable and digital workspace for the Scottish Business community to thrive. Businesses who select HALO Enterprise and Innovation Centre as their base can be assured that with Platinum recognition, their connectivity is live and secure to the highest global standard.”

Tom McClellan, Country Director UK & Ireland and Growth Markets, WiredScore added: “Occupier expectations of the workplace have shifted dramatically in the last few years and landlords need to keep up to avoid being left behind. We’ve seen exponential growth in the adoption and understanding of technology as landlords use it as a differentiator in the market. The HALO is no exception and their deserved WiredScore Platinum certification shows how placing robust digital infrastructure at the heart of their strategy has paid dividends.”
